The SC. class are asked to design a piece of Jewelry to be "lost wax cast"
from sterling silver.
Each student is given casting wax form which they carve their design. Most
students carve a ring. All materials and the centrifugal casting drum can be
bought from Warbutons.
Some students set gem stones in their piece. I get a
friend who is a gem setter to come in to demonstrate this technique.
The student also build a presentation box.
My students have competed successfully in the ATTA honors evening held at
Northcote college.
This unit has a very high student interest factor. I have had 100% SC. pass
rates.
